DIONYSIUS, TYRANT OF SYRACUSE
If I had some good wine,
I'd drink it in the morning,
I'd drink it in the evening,
all over this town.
I''d drink it when I'm eating,
I'd drink it when I'm judging,
I'd drink for the joy I feel
at oppressing my subjects
all over this town! |
DIOGENES
Picture yourself on a
square in a barrel
While people in chitons
are scurrying by!
Somebody calls you,
you answer quite slowly,
It's Alex the Great,
come to visit your sty. |
CERBERUS
You're nothing but a hound dog!
Guarding Hades all the time!
Sniffing with your three heads,
To find out when there's a crime! |

THE FLIGHT OF ICARUS
Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always flew a bit below.
So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the skill.
A wrinkled old face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
Icarus flies higher than an eagle,
because Daedalus made me wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth,
of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.
Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the man who made my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the man who made my wings,
dear daddy, dear Daedalus...
oh, shit - the wax holding
my wings in place is melting!
Daaaaddyyyyyy..................

PLUTO AND FRIEND
Pluto, mighty death god, felt so spry and free,
And frolicked in the autumn mist by the wine-red Grecian sea,
Little Aphrodite loved that rascal Plute,
And brought him strings and sealing wax and a golden parachute. Oh!
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail.
She would keep a lookout perched on Pluto's furry tail,
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came,
Pirate ships would lower their flag when Plute roared out his name. Oh!
But Aphrodite matured and then discovered boys.
Painted wings and giant rings made way for other toys.
One grey night it happened, Aphrodite came no more
And Pluto, mighty though he was, he ceased his fearless roar.
His head was bent in sorrow, his tail drooped in the rain,
Plute no longer went to play upon the ocean lane.
Without his little friend, Plute could not be brave,
So Pluto, mighty though he was, slipped back into his cave. Oh!
Pluto, mighty death god, felt so spry and free,
And frolicked in the autumn mist by the wine-red Grecian sea,
Pluto, mighty death god, felt so spry and free,
And frolicked in the autumn mist by the wine-red Grecian sea.

THE STORY OF HERMES
There is a house on Olympus
They call the Rising Zeus.
And it's been the the ruin of many a poor god,
Ephebe, I know, I am one.
My mother was called Maia,
She dyed my tunic puce.
My father was a whoring god,
That horny bastard Zeus.
Now the only thing a true god needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk,
To get out from under the Super-god,
When he gets mean and drunk.
Oh, mother, tell your children,
Not to do what I have done!
Spend your life as a roving messenger,
To escape from the violent one.
I also stole some cattle,
And invented human speech,
But I never ventured to Olympus again,
Within the drunkard's reach.
There iiis a hoouse on Olympus....
