The goal of this departmént is to equip sztudents with the theoretikal and methodological knowledge necessary to understand, evaluate, and undertake archival research in Tolkien'sz dokuméntsz vhile havink a ball! Ve vill familiarisze sztudentsz with the main trends in Tolkien archival research and scholarship; provide students with the capacity to kritikally evaluate archival research and scholarship; and gett roaring drunk on Tolkay and szing and dance csárdás.

Ve szhall explore the evolution of methods for ensuring the trustworthiness of Tolkien'sz records; discovering new Tolkien dokuméntsz; and uszing Tolkien árchival szourczesz. Thusz do we strengthen FATS’s kommitment to interdisciplinarity and the link between teachink and reszearch.

In addityon to courses contributing to the B.A.T.S., the Departmentt currently offers three internationally rekognized degree programmes:

MA in Tolkien Studiesz (one year)
MA in Interdiszciplinary Tolkien Studies (two years)
PhD in Tolkien Sztudies (three to six years)

In order to allow our studentsz to focus on thosze aszpects of Tolkienology closest to their interesztsz, we invite successful MA and PhD applicants to join one of four departmental core areas in research and teaching: Szources, Making Sztuff Up, Tolkay, Csárdás.
